As Skyfear fan, what am I allowed to make?

Who owns the content?

You, the creator, own the content. However, Skyfear/Protoria Studios reserves the right to use it for promotional purposes.

Can I make money from Skyfear fan content?

Selling or monetising something you created yourself, in an environment under your control is perfectly fine. Where we draw the line is if you’re using/modifying someone else’s work, or using/modifying Official Protoria Studios assets/artwork, that is not allowed. What is meant by an evironment under your control are things like Etsy, where the individual creator is responsible for distribution. You may not monetise your fan content in collaboration with a large scale distributor where you, as a creator, may have limited control. YouTube and Twitch standard monetization is OK. If you are unsure if your situation is OK, please contact us at protoriastudios@gmail.com and we will help you.

Removal of fan content

Ultimately, Skyfear/Protoria Studios reserves the right to ask you to cease the sharing, promotion, operation, or sales of any fan content you’ve created that we believe to be harmful to Skyfear or its community. If you do not comply, we may take legal action.

Can I host a tournaments, parties, and events?

Any event hosted by a community member with no profit/prizes is perfectly fine and does not need permission. We’d love to see this! However, if you’d like to host an event such as a competitive tournament that includes a prize pool of real value, or any event that invloves commercial products (participation, prizes, or partnerships), please get in touch with us first via protoriastudios@gmail.com. In fact, this is best in any case because we’d actually love to get involved and support the event in any way we can.

Hard Rules

  1. Fan content is not “Official”. It should be made clear to your audience that your work is not officially created by or endorsed by Skyfear/Protoria Studios. While we may offer you support and recognition, directly or indirectly, the content and reception to it is not our responsibility.
  2. Do not, under any circumstances, encourage or endorse cheating, hacking, or privacy-violating behavior.
  3. Do not make any claims regarding Skyfear’s development direction that is not backed up by official documentation. Making false claims about where the product is going can be extremely harmful to the game’s reputation and community. Speculation is allowed, as long as it is made clear that it is speculation.
  4. Do not use Skyfear content to promote any products or services, unless you are performing for an official sponsorship of yours on top of your fan content. Do not promote products or services or perform sponsorships on behalf of Skyfear/Protoria Studios, only your own. Breaking this rule can be really harmful to the game.
  5. Do not steal other’s work. This does not need further explaination.

Branding

If you would like to use logo assets of Skyfear or Protoria Studios in your content, please download the official assets here, and please do not modify the assets in their proportions or color, or creative modifications, as we want to make sure the brand stays consistently recognizable.

Future Changes

We expect changes to these guidelines to be made in the future as the product and community develop. Changes made will be in effect as soon as they are made. Please contact us at protoriastudios@gmail.com if you have any questions.
